CYSA Policies on Player Protective Equipment and Prescribed Medical Devices
PIM 00-2 Repealed (Use of Casts and Supportive Braces) At its Sept. 2003 board meeting, CYSA responded to US Soccer's memorandum that says in part, "Modern protective equipment such as headgear, facemasks, knee and arm protectors made of soft, lightweight, padded materials are not considered dangerous and are therefore permitted [under Law 4]." The CYSA board reaffirmed that orthopedic casts, air-splints and metal splints are not allowed in any game. The referee is the ultimate authority in deciding whether any equipment is dangerous to the player wearing it or to any other player participating in a game.
