ODP Player Selection

   

    How are Players Selected for ODP?

 

The CYSA District II ODP program will strive to identify our District's top players - those who possess the highest athletic, mental, and technical soccer abilities in their respective eligible age groups.
 
The process will include online nominations of eligible and qualified players by District II coaches and approved by Directors of Coaching (DOC's).
 
Additionally, three open Player Identification Days will be available for the younger two age groups ('00 and '99). Pre-registration for the Player Identification Days is free and is encouraged. A late registration fee of $20 will be applied for forms received after April 15, 2012.
 
Players who are identified by the 2012 District II Olympic Development Program will be invited to attend and participate in the CYSA (Cal-North) State ODP tryouts, which will be held in the fall. Nominated District II players and players selected at the Identification Days will be posted on links found on the District II ODP page.
 

'00 and '99 age groups

Process: Nomination and Player Identification Days
Identification of qualified players will be done two ways:
  1. Online Coach nominations approved by Directors of Coaching will be accepted for qualified players.
  2. Player Identification Days will be held on three dates in April and May. Age eligible players possessing the highest soccer abilities are encouraged to attend 
           
  • Registration forms will be required.
 
  • Pre-registration before April 15, 2012 is free.                        
 
  • Non-CYSA players will be required to pay an additional fee of $15 to cover insurance.

 

'98 and '97 age groups

Process: Player Nomination only
                 
  • Club Coaches, Directors of Coaching and opposing coaches can recommend qualified players using the online Nomination form.
 
  • Coach nominations will require the approval of the League/Club Director of Coaching.
 
  • All approved nominated District II players will be invited to attend the CYSA Cal-North State tryout in the fall.
 
  • Approved player lists will be posted on the District II ODP website.

District 2 teams overwhelmingly play in this league for the competition, the appropriate travel and the customer service!
