MEGA U9-10-11
DISTRICT TOURNAMENT A HUGE SUCCESS!!!!
In one weekend………………That tournament would require……
24 fields in one location in simultaneous use
By 184 teams
157 licensed referees
Participating, playing, officiating, cheering at 343 games.
All games starting and ending on schedule, on time
Hosting over 10,000 parents, fans, participants
Yes, just imagine what went into the unbelievable district tournament held November 12th and 13th, 2011 in Morgan Hill Ca.
The tournament officials set up 5 headquarter substations to pre-check in all teams. The substations were manned by referee mentors to offer help and support to officials, answer questions from coaches and family members, and help start and end matches on time. The main referee assignor/coordinator headquartered on site linked all the substations via walkie talkie. He gave the signal for start of match, half time, and end of match. The substations reacted simultaneously, thus all fields remained in synch for the entire tournament.
Because of this all teams and fans were able to compete, watch other matches, and stay in one location. The sight of so much great soccer and soccer activity going on in one place was a joy to behold.
And imagine, with the help of a lot of dedicated people, great teams, great fans, IT ALL HAPPENED!!!!!!! JUST IMAGINE!!!!!!!!
This is just part of our District Cup experience. We are hosting over 500 teams from U9-U19 this year.

Montoya further expressed, “My team was outstanding all week and I'm very proud of all 17 players who contributed to our success not only here in Kansas but for the entire championship series. Lightning's depth is what I feel contributed most to our success this season. They all worked extremely hard and should be excited about their accomplishments.”

Congratulations to District II’s Regional Champions
CYSA District II had ten teams competing in the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico from June 21 – 27. Two of those teams — the U15 Boys Mt. Hamilton PAC Tigres and the U14 Girls MVLA Lightning emerged as Far West Regional champions!
In the U15 Boys Championship game, Isreal Escalera scored in the first five minutes to give the Mt. Hamilton PAC Tigres an early advantage over the Boise Nationals Barcelona. Boise never did recover, and Escalera added insurance when he scored his second goal of the match in the 65th minute — leading to a 2–0 win for the Tigres.
In the U14 Girls Championship game, two Cal-North teams — the MVLA Lightning and Mustang Fury — went head-to-head in a rematch of their thrilling State Cup game, which ended in a penalty shootout win for the Fury. This time, it was all Lightning. The Lightning struck just before halftime when Caitlyn Wong scored in the 35th minute, to give the Lightning a big emotional lift at the break. The battle continued in the second half. Gabriella Kaplan made it 2–0 Lightning in the 54th minute. Jaye Boissiere added icing on the cake with a goal in the 62nd minute for the final 3–0 score.
Both the victorious Tigres and Lightning will now travel to US Youth Soccer’s National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas from July 20–25.
